What is a Woman? (2019)
What is a Woman? was created to empower women and their own sense of self, encouraging an open conversation about unhealthy relationships with our bodies.
Too often, women feel they must fit into a certain criteria that is deemed ‘acceptable’. With only a few ever truly feeling proud or comfortable in their own skin.
The project consists of 37 individual images of multiple female forms, compiled to create an 8-foot composite woman.
Too large to be ignored, too many idiosyncrasies to be sexualised.
The intent of this piece is to highlight that female physicalities do not define our worth. One is not better than the other because they bear wider hips, a bigger bust, a smaller waistline, or lighter skin.
These notions about the female form, impressed upon us by society and culture, are detrimental to the female psyche.
A woman is a woman no matter what —
I am Woman.
You are Woman.
We are Woman.
